Since 2016, the Okanagan Learning Foundation has organized and funded programs to support students and educators. These initiatives include our Food For Thought Programs at all School District 22 Secondary Schools.
Through our Food For Thought Programs the Foundation supplements the dietary needs of secondary school students who might otherwise go hungry. The Foundation also provides financial support for projects to support education and mental health, funding for educators pursuing professional education opportunities, and scholarships for graduating students moving on to post-secondary education.
Our mission is to support Okanagan students and educators by creating the conditions they need for success.
“The Okanagan Learning Foundation’s support for both students and teachers is to be commended. We wish you continued success and thank you for your strong commitment to students in School District No. 22.”
What We'RE DOING NEXT
Continuing to support opportunities for educators and students to pursue educational opportunities.
Continuing to fund the Okanagan Learning Foundation Scholarship Program for secondary school graduates.
Helping educators realize projects, by helping fund field trips or by contributing toward the purchase of teaching aids.
Continuing to raise funds from generous donors in the Okanagan Valley and across the country.
Engaging with the community through social media, to improve understanding of the challenges facing our students.
Building relationships within the education community to discover where the Foundation is needed next.
“I just wanted to thank you for the boots! Our student received them the day before her birthday during a week where she was having some personal struggles. She lit up when she saw them and shouted “I didn’t think they were going to be CUTE!” Then she tried them on to make sure they fit and would not take them off.
The work that the Okanagan Learning Foundation does for these kids is life changing. It is a privilege for me to get to witness their excitement over what they choose for Food for Thought and these winter clothes.
Thank you for your work and generosity!”
